Pole-hammer (Ger. Streithammer) is one of the most ancient Teutonic weapons. According to folk sagas, their supreme deity
wielded this weapon. Since XIII century pole-hammers were spread throughout the Europe. A pole-hammer blow could pierce not only a chain mail, but also
a helm or a plate mail. In wielding, a pole-hammer is much like a mace, but provides with some advantage - a pole-hammer is better balanced, so a
pole-hammer blow is always more effective than that of a mace.
